ALT+F4 should *close* the program.

I consider this to be a common problem.

Users all over the world are now pressing ALT+F4 to see their programs ... minimize! The misbehaving program will, instead of quitting, minimize. Some programs will go into the system tray. Of course I don't mind applications offering these two varieties as an option, but by default ALT+F4 is supposed to be "Quit program".

Take Spotify, for example. Alt+F4 will minimize it. Clicking the red X in the top-right corner will minimize it. File->Exit will get rid of it, though.

Skype is even worse. Like with Spotify, you hit Alt+F4, and now it's on the task bar. There is a "hotkey" settings menu, but none of them has "quit Skype". You have to right-click on the taskbar icon to make it go away. Not even opening Skype and clicking Skype->Close will do it.

More and more programs have the same things happening for the exit button as the minimize buttons. It's insane.

There is usually already a (*different*) hotkey for minimizing a window! Please at least have a checkbox or something that I can enable so that ALT+F4 will *close* the program.

Thank you for your attention.

I literally hate this as well.

At least on OS X, CMD+Q always closes the program/application (even Spotify!), which is nice.
Unfortunately Q is right next to tab so I find myself occasionally closing a program when I want to cmd/alt+tab. :(

The problem is: I often find myself wanting to close a program that is not in focus.
