I consider this to be a somewhat common problem.
Recently I've seen some examples of buttons that does not work. They are there, yet, they are disabled. There is absolutely no reason why they should be disabled. But they are.
Let us begin with Gmail example.

Let us begin with Gmail example.

I was going through old emails, and I started from mail number 50. Yet, the buttons that I have previously used to go to older email is disabled.
In order to get this working again, I had to disable "Priority Inbox", a feature I like after using it for a short while. I also noticed that the Priority Inbox does not even have the regular "go to next page of messages" button when you are in the Inbox view. I guess this is Google's way of enforcing Inbox Zero, a principle I don't believe in at all.
Let us move on to Twitch, a service that is not even close when it comes to user user-friendliness, stability and general usability.
But they had one thing I liked: you could get live notifications.
Apparently they made it harder now. You can disable live notifications entirely - which, instead of disabling all your current notifications apparently disables the possibility of getting them back when you do it.
So, I wanted to follow this guy and I got a disabled button and a text that said "You've disabled live notifications. Update your settings". This is outrageous - why can't I just enable it from where I am? I have to go into a stupid settings menu to enable it, then go back, refresh the page, press the button, and then it's working again?
When it comes to buttons that involve spending money, though, I have never seen one not working. Good to know that companies have priorities.
