Pausing a download should be one click away

Currently I consider this to be a rare problem.

I think that pausing a download should always be one click away. There is generally no good reason to keep it further away than that. I will use Steam as an example here although there are many offenders of this rule: pausing a download should be one click away. This is a special case of the more general doing common things should be few clicks away.

Here is the menu you get if you right-click on a game (in the "library" tab) that is currently downloading:

To pause the download from there, you have to click on "Manage Downloads..." (which is only available for games who are currently downloading), and then find the game on that new list, and then click on pause.

There is more than enough room on my screen to have an entry for "pause download" there. Most of the other options on that menu are far less important.

And it's so easy to make this one click away, too. Look at the picture on the right-hand side from Audible to see how it should be done. I don't even have to right-click on that one first.

Finally, I leave you with an example of how simple and easy this can be done:

One click for a common task.
