I consider this to be a common problem.
People, I have checked my calendar and it seems to me like we're living in 2014. It's time to support unicode. It is time to move beyond the boxes and the question marks.
If your idea of unicode support is to present a bunch of boxes or question marks whenever people try to send me a ☺ you need to get out of your cave and join us. Replacing them with smileys and other kinds of images is not satisfactory either.
And I don't just mean rendering them. We need them in our URLs! Speaking of which, have you ever been to http://9m.no/똮鈨?
